A proposal has been submitted by Huon Property Group for a 15-storey mixed-use tower in Stones Corner, Brisbane’s southside. The aim is to rejuvenate the area while preserving its unique “village-like feel.” The project, spanning a 2618sq m site along Logan Road and Cleveland Street, includes 144 two and three-bedroom apartments, with special features like 10 exclusive “sky homes” with private terraces. Additionally, the plan incorporates ground floor retail and commercial space, along with 327 parking spots across basement and podium levels.
The proposed development emphasizes high-quality design and services to enhance the local Stones Corner and Greenslopes community. By integrating commercial and retail tenancies on Logan Road, the project aims to maintain the area’s commercial character. Notably, the tower design ensures that the streetscape’s village ambiance is preserved by setting back from the Logan Road frontage.
The site, covering seven lots, features buildings identified under a commercial character overlay. The architectural scheme, crafted by Z Architects, involves partial demolition of existing structures facing Logan Road, with a commitment to retain the front facade. On Cleveland Street, full demolition is planned to accommodate the new development and ensure efficient access and services.
To address the height exceeding the neighborhood plan’s limit of 12 storeys, a performance solution is being sought for the tower. This additional height is balanced by improved built form requirements such as setbacks and building length, aligning with council recommendations. The project is praised for its exceptional architectural design and mixed-use concept.
The tower proposal boasts a 600sq m rooftop communal space featuring a swimming pool, barbecue area, and scenic views of Brisbane CBD and Hanlon Park. Additional communal amenities at podium level include a function room, gym, and lounge with terraces. Huon Property Group, known for its boutique developments, has previously worked on various projects in Brisbane, showcasing a commitment to quality and innovation in the property sector.
In conclusion, the proposed 15-storey tower in Stones Corner represents a significant step towards revitalizing the Brisbane southside precinct. With a focus on blending modern design with the area’s existing charm, this development by Huon Property Group is poised to contribute positively to the local community while offering a new, vibrant living and commercial space.
